Journal de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées
The dissemination of the Journal de mathématiques pures et appliquées in Numdam results from the cooperation with the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) within the framework of an "associated pole" agreement entitled "Concerted digitization in mathematics".
This agreement led to the development by Mathdoc of the Gallica-Math website which gives access to the mathematical collections displayed in the BnF's Gallica digital collection. The collections concerned are Répertoire bibliographique des sciences mathématiques, Œuvres complètes de mathématiciens, and Journal de mathématiques pures et appliquées, also known as "de Liouville" (from 1836 to 1945).
In this context, Mathdoc librarians worked on reindexing the documents digitized by the BnF in order to browse and quote each article. Character recognition has also been added for full-text search. Volume 15 (1870) of the 2nd series was digitized in 2022 by Mathdoc librarians to complete the collection. The 1944 and 1945 volumes were also harvested from the BnF in 2022.
The volumes from 1935 to 1945 were digitized in color by the BnF, which generates very heavy files to handle. Numdam's librarians have therefore carried out treatments to transform color files into black and white files to speed up the loading time of PDFs. All the more, for each article in Numdam, the link to the original BnF file has been added (Gallica button).
