Harmonic synthesis for subgroups

Let $G$ be a locally compact group and $H$ a closed subgroup. Then $H$ is always a set of local spectral synthesis with respect to the algebra $A_p\left(G\right)$, where $A_2\left(G\right)$ is the Fourier algebra in the sense of Eymard. Global synthesis holds if and only if a certain condition (C) is satisfied; it is whenever the subgroup $H$ is amenable or normal. Global synthesis implies that each convolution operator on $L^p\left(G\right)$ with support in $H$ which is the ultraweak limit of measures carried by $H$. The problem of passing from local to global synthesis is examined in an abstract context.

Soient $G$ un groupe localement compact et $H$ un sous-groupe fermé. Alors $H$ est toujours un ensemble de synthèse locale par rapport aux algèbres $A_p\left(G\right)$, où $A_2\left(G\right)$ est l’algèbre de Fourier au sens de Eymard. La synthèse globale a lieu si et seulement si une certaine condition (C) est vérifiée ; elle l’est toutefois si $H$ est moyennable ou si $H$ est distingué. La synthèse globale entraîne que chaque convoluteur de $L^p\left(G\right)$ à support dans $H$ qui est limite ultrafaible de mesures portées par $G$ est une telle limite de mesures portées par $H$. On étudie dans un cadre abstrait le problème de passage de la synthèse locale à la synthèse globale.
